For Ava

"The only gift is a portion of thyself."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Honestly, I had fantastic and supremely heartfelt intentions. I worked and worked and studied and carefully mulled over the pattern. But alas, I came up short. (sigh)

Ava, my sweet niece, turned 4 on October 2. She's an absolute doll- a spitfire with a twinkle in her eye and a song in heart. I wanted her to have something special; something she would have for years to come.

"I'll make a blanket," I thought. "Yep- I'll knit her a blanket."

I just gave it to her yesterday. (gulp)

I am sure it was worth the wait. 4 year olds do not understand time. Plus it is a beautiful blanket. I love purple!

She is a lucky little girl.

Came up short...WHAT!! She absolutely LOVES the blanket and tells me she sleeps better with it. She carries it everywhere and talks to it as if it is her best friend. Plus, she relishes in the fact that she can rub it in to her sister that YOU made it for her! Ava says I am to tell you thank you and she was very excited to see the pictures on your blog.
